first of all what is an asymptote? It is a restrictive line that a graph never touches. an asymptote can be found by looking at an equation of your function and look where your function is undefined. A simple example is that of Hyperbolic function of the form: y=k/x,in this case x=0 is your x-asymptote as you might remember a in a fraction a denominator must never qual zero,and even your function will not touch the line x=0,which your y-axis. I take issue with the definition you gave. "It is a restrictive line that a graph never touches." |dw:1338249014727:dw| With horizontal asymptotes, the graph often crosses the asymptote.
