I still can't figure out how to figure out the product of 2 + 3i and its conjugate. is it like reverse factoring?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

it's like (x+y)(x-y) but cooler

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

It's kind of like reverse factoring in that you're multiplying the two numbers together. Basically, think of it as FOILing the number and its conjugate.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

the conjugate of 2 + 3i is just copy 2 and 3i then reverse the sign giving you 2 - 3i product of 2 + 3i and its conjugate will be \[(2+3i)(2-3i)\] you can do difference of two squares thingy here
