5-4q>17 can someone walk my threw this so i can show my steps and answer i am trying to do it and not doing well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 - 4q > 17 -4q > 12 q < -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What part are you stuck on?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

working the steps out to get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok this is what i got 17-5=12 and then 12 divided by -4 is -3 would that be showing my steps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. first, I just wrote the inequality again. Then, I subtracted 5 from both sides. Then, I divided -4 from both sides to be left with q. However, dividing by a negative causes the inequality to flip signs. (> turns to <)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i was trying to subtract 4 from each side thank you for the correction

You're welcome.
