for trig i dont understand the unit circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What don't you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like how do you get sin cos and so on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin is y cos is x and tan is y/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think of it this way. Sin is the y value on the unit circle and x is the cos on the unit circle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wiat how do u get csc and cot and sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Csc, cot, and sec are reciprocal identities. Basically, Cosecant = 1/sin. Cotangent is 1/tan. Secant = 1/cos

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right but when u want to figue them out on the circle wat r they

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also when graphing it on the unit circle, they still represent sin, cos, and tan as in x and y values, but they are able to go outside of the unit circle. THis means that they are greater than 1 and less than -1. Tan, sin, and cos are restricted to -1 and 1.

Don't worry, it's perfectly fine to be having trouble. I remember that I had these exact same problems.
