When multiplying polynomials, what do you do with the exponents?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you will add the exponents

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u understand that?

I think that you will get more help on this in the mathematics section, but I can help you on this. You will need to multiple each term in one polynomial by each term in the other polynomial. Add those answer together, then simplify as needed. Let say you have: (3x^3)(7x^5)= 21x^9 You just multiply the variables by using the distribution method and then add the exponents. Another one: 5x(2x^3 - 6x + 7) = 5x(2x^3) + 5x(-6x) + 5x(7) =10x^4 +5x(-6x) + 5x(7) =10x^4 - 30x^2 +5x(7) = 10x^4 - 30x^2 + 35x Cannot be simplify any further! You just distributed the 5x through the parentheses. Just take it one step at a time. Hope that helps! n_n
