Rearrange the terms and it might be easier to factor: pq-2q + pr-2r Now remove the variable that is common to the first two terms, the q q(p-2) +pr -2r now remove the common term in the last two terms, the r q(p-2) + r(p-2) you are almost there you have two terms now and there is something common to both of them, the p-2. (p-2)(q+r) looks familiar doesn't it.
