REALLY NEED HELP! A firecracker shoots up from a hill 165 feet high with an initial speed of 110 feet per second. Using the formula H(t) = -16t2 + vt + s, determine how long it will take the firecracker to hit the ground.
plz help!
initial speed is 110, initial height is 165 so your formula is h(t) = -16t^2 + 110 t + 165
to get the time it takes to reach the ground , solve for t here: 0 = -16t^2 + 110 t + 165
since this is a quadratic, you'll get two values of t (time)... you can ignore the value of t that does not make sense in this world we call reality ...
:)
thx :)
Upon analysis this quadratic polynomial does not factor so you will need to use the quadratic formula. t should be a little more than 8 seconds. Good Luck! 8.1 isn't accepted on most standardize test. The correct answer is \[t \approx 8\]
