When solving an inequality that is less than or equal to 0 or greater than or equal to 0 and 0 is in the interval. Does zero have a curve or smooth bracket?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For example \[ x^3-x ge 0 \] with solution: [-1,0) U (1, infinity) Does zero have a parenthesis ) or bracket ] ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if 0 is included in the solution such as x >= 0 then you use [0, infinity) if 0 is NOT included in the solution such as x > 0, then you use (0, infinity)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the bracket only if the number is included.. otherwise use ( or )

@dpaInc you are really smart!!! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awww... you're making me turn pink!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I still don't understand though...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you say yes or no first then explain?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know you use the square bracket if the number is included but I want to know if I am able to use a square bracket on 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Zero is also a number, so the same rule applied!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thank you that is all I wanted to know...
