Please help!!! What was the South's reason in the Civil War?

The South argued for states' rights - that , as a "Confederacy" of states, they had the right to break away fronm the "Union" (of states, known as the United States of America). Politically speaking, a "confederacy" is a group of states in which each state maintains its individul right to govern itself. In a "union", the states are subject to the laws of a central, or federal, government, which takes precedent over the rights of the states in the union. The Confederacy of Southern states wanted to break away from the Union because it was becoming increasingly anti-slaverty, and slavery was the primary labor force that drove the agricultural Southern economy
