A body is thrown from ground vertically upwards into an empty tank of height H in minimum timeThe tank is now filled with water so that the acceleration inside is reduced to g/2 the height h from which the body should be thrown so that the time is unchanged is?

Not sure I understand the wording of the question. Could you clarify?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@CliffSedge sorry for the mistake in the question plz read it now

OpenStudy (yash2651995):

filling water will impose a considerable amount of buoyant force .. the value of g becoming g/2 refers only to that particle.. it means it has already calculated the net force acting down on the particle considering buoyant and gravitational forces..........i guess =P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Assuming this is basic kinematics, you can solve for h given the new acceleration. \[h=vt+1/2at^2\]

OpenStudy (yash2651995):

^that'd do it =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"thrown upward into a tank" still sounds weird to me.

OpenStudy (experimentx):

I bet your problem is this |dw:1338820797436:dw|
