What is the function of the memory cells in your immune system? fights infections immediately induces a primary immune response is effective in vaccination programs remains in the immune system to fight the same antigen again both 1 & 2 both 3 & 4

This would be were it remember the virus--the memory cells will be able to detect the virus when you get sick, with the same virus and it will be able to fight the same antigen again. Hope that helps! n_n

Im to tierd to properly understand the question so i'll explain what memory cells are. Main immunological memorycells are B-memorycells (deriving from B-plasma cells) & T-memorycells (Deriving from CD8 (Cytotoxic T cells.)) When a pathogen has been succefully fought off, these memory cells with the antigen of that perticular pathogen is stored. In the scenario where the body encounters the same pathogen again, it begins a immediate immunological response and massproduce to counter the Memorycells Antigen which has been recongnized. B-plasmacells produce 3 000 000antibodies/per cell/per second. And Cytotoxic T cells targets the pathogen. Questions?

OpenStudy (matt101):

Answer is 3 and 4. 3 is an application of 4 - that's why vaccines work.
