If the author tells the story but does not take part, it is told in ____ person. is it first person?
If the author knows all characters thoughts its 3rd. If the author only knows the main characters thoughts its 1st.
so 3rd person?
hold on...
I'm sorry, I typed on the wrong question...
and wont "If the protagonist tells the story himself, it is told in ____ person." be first person?
does the author know only the thoughts of the main character or does he know all the charaters toughts... the way the question is worded I would say it is third person.
The protagonist is the main character in the story, so the story is told in 1st person. There are two types of 3rd person, limited and omniscient, both which are told by a narrator created by the author that is NOT a character in the story. In the 3rd person limited point of view, the narrator knows a limited amount of what is in at least one character's mind (sometimes more than one, but not all), whereas the 3rd person omniscient narrator is all-knowing; this narrator sees the thoughts in all of the characters' heads and may also know all facts about the past, present, and future in the context of the world created by the author.
