You have 5 sides that are rectangles and 2 bases that are pentagons
the total perimeter of the pent is 20
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay
OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):
Ahh! Perimeter.
OpenStudy (amistre64):
k is the height of a basic triangle that makes up the pentagon, and s is a side of the pentagon:
ks/2 is the area of 1 triangle, and there are 5 triangles: 5ks/2 for the entire pent
there are 2 pents to account for; 2*5ks/2 = 5ks
there are 5 rectangles of area: 6*s

A=30 r 36?
OpenStudy (amistre64):
Find the total area, in terms of K
there is no K in 30 or 36
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh
OpenStudy (amistre64):
Surface Area = 5ks + 5(6s)
you should be able to determine s ..... and k is the unknown, just simplify to your hearts content
