An inventor claims to have built a machine that can produce 120 J of work with an input of 110 J. Would you believe the inventor's claim? Why or why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, what do you think? Personally, I wouldn't believe the inventor, because I am looking at numbers here. You cannot produce more energy than what you put in. It's just like a class - if you input 80% energy/effort into the class, you will only get that same 80%. Based on that, do you think you could answer the question, now? If not, I can help you more! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you that was a great example, now I understand it more!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any time. :)

you can only get the output energy equal or less than the input energy as there is energy loss as heat due to frictions.
