My first question! How old is everyone here and are you returning to studying after some time away, or studying alongside a 'traditional' course?
I am 67. My career has been as a lawyer, and I always have been very interested in computers and applying computer technology to the practice of law.
I am 28. I studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge when I was 18 but dropped out. I completed a Physics degree at Nottingham University (UK) when I was 22, but with a very low score! I have been working ever since in a field unrelated to my degree, and have been considering going back to University to re-train and also complete 'unfinished business', but as it seems a quality education is now free, why pay £9000 a year (more in the US?). PS. Loving the course so far (lecture 4)
I am 24 and I'm almost finishing bachelor in Marketing at University of São Paulo, I just came back from one year internship in India and it made me very curious about developing. I just started, lecture 2 right now!
I'm 46, been in software engineering for as long as I can recall (my first computer was the Sinclair ZX 80) that you assembled from kit form. I specialized in Computer Security but never got to go full time in that area. Instead I got into software development in the financial sector (Insurance, Banking).
I'm 29. Always interested in computer science. Life made me go go by making economics my major and obtain a nice job into stock markets and assets management. After burning out there, and realizing that's not suit for me, taking the steps to do now what I should had do more than 10 years ago.
I'm 28. Years ago I started to study electronic engineering (in Spain Electrical Engineering is diveded in Electrical and Electronic engineering) but I didn't feel like to finish it, then I changed my carreer to economics, career that I finished last year. And now almost ten years later, I wold like to finish what I left unfinished.
i'm 24,graduate,major is wireless communications in a institue, this one is much more interesting than those i took in school, easy to understand,i will watch introduction of algorithms after finish this one
I'm 18. I have read a few programming books in the past. I love computer science and will be studying at Sheffield University next year. I enjoy the lectures because I have never taken a computer class like this and the structure is well explained. Although language syntaxes looks very basic to me I still follow and am waiting for a challenge. I was just wondering is there any course which teaches java?
I'm 23. I'm studying Computer System Engineering and Telecommunication. I just love technology, computer science and everything that is "geek" also I like learning everything I can.. xD
I'm 28... computer geek, musician, and typical office worker. Make too much money to qualify for financial aid and not enough money to be happy in my mediocre career. I also don't like the idea of being in debt so I'm hoping I can learn just enough online to get a decent ground level programming job and learn the rest in the thick of it. ;)
