The sum of the length and grith of a rectangular box to hold Harriet's gift needs to be more than 110 inches. If the length needs to be three times the girth, what should the girth be?

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

let the girth be 'x'. then length = 3 times the girth = 3x now the sum of the length and the girth needs to be MORE THAN 110 so, x + 3x > 110 Now simplify this inequality^.

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

that would be: 4x>100 or, x> 100/4 or, --->?? what would that be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

actually, x>25. Means, 'x' or the girth can only be greater than 25 inches.

Thanks!

OpenStudy (apoorvk):
