what is the cause of measles?what precautions must the patient take ? can he/she take a bath?
The measles (romantika) is caused by the paramyxo virus. This disease is known to be airborne. This virus can be transmitted in several ways: 1.) If the person is in direct physical contact with an affected person, then he or she may have the chance of contracting measles. 2.) The virus can live in sputum, saliva, and in phlegm of an affected person. This virus can be transmitted to another person if the affected person were to cough, sneeze, or talk and/or laugh near the person. 3.) If the affected person is isolated, they still have the chance of spreading the disease through their clothes, or through the air. An affected person should take airborne precautions: this will allow prevention, in which the disease that is transmitted by minute particles called droplet nuclei or contaminated dust particles, will be less likely to spread to others. With the size of these particles, they can remain in the air for long periods of time; even if the affected person has left the room. A measles patient should take airborne precautions, by assigning themselves to a private room, while they have special ventilation requirements. The patient must make sure, that the door to this room is closed at all possible times. This should be in a hospital. If the patient must be isolated from their room to another area or room, then the patient should wear a mask during their transportation. Anyone who may need to enter into the isolation room, to care and/or provide for the patient--must wear a mask called a respirator. To lessen the itching, use oatmeal baths as a tropical treatment. To prepare the bath, you will take a handful of oatmeal wrapped in a washcloth and you will then let it slowly soak into the bath water. The wrapped oatmeal fill cloth may even be rubbed directly onto the skin, so that it may bring extra relief. Hope that helps! n_n
