Solve 2^(x + 3) = 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its Solving Exponential Equations with Unequal Bases

OpenStudy (btaylor):

take the log of both sides. Then, because of the properties of logs, you can take the exponent down, so it looks like this: (x+3) log 2 = log 7 then just solve for x, by dividing both sides by log 2, then subtracting 3. Always be sure to check your answer. (Just a note, this question really belongs in Mathematics, not Chemistry)
