really tough question, help plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the equation of the biggest circle that can be drawn, that touches the Y-axis, the X-axis, and another line that has the function y=x+6 |dw:1339293897204:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let the point (x,y) and x=y the distance from the point to the line should be equal to value of x(or y because x=y) x+6=y is x-y+6=0, which a=1, b=-1, c=6 \[d=\left| ax+by+c \right|/\sqrt{x ^{2}+y ^{2}}\] and d=x so \[\left| x-x+6 \right|/\sqrt{x ^{2}+x ^{2}}=x\] that is \[3\sqrt{2}=x ^{2}\] \[x=\sqrt{3\sqrt{2}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the circle should tangent to x-axis,y-axis and the line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the center of circle should has the same distance to x-axis,y-axis and the line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the point center (x,y) should be x=y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zscdragon got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im thinking..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are u chinese?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got this as the equation of the circle.. \[\large (x-3\sqrt{2})^2+(y-3\sqrt{2})^2=18 \]
