Find the surface area of the Cylinder in terms of PI.
How about you try \[2 \pi r^2 + 2\pi r h\] first.
\[D= 2r\]So \[r= D/2\]
I dont have a calculator i left it at my dads house :/
I needs someone to solve and walk me through it.
Since it says leave in terms of π, you don't need a calculator :)
Ok well at least can you set up the answer using the formula first? It's plugging in values.
so then what do i multiply?
\[2πr^2+2πrh\] h= height r= radius
still dont get it.. . . :(
Ok you are given the diameter as 14cm, so your radius will be half of that. 14/2= 7cm. You are also given a height of 18cm, so you just have to plug in these two values into the formula for surface area, which I gave you. So it will be \[2 \pi \times (7)^2 cm^2 + 2 \pi \times 7 \times 18 cm^2\]
i need a calculator to solve it and i dont have one...
Your answer will be in terms of \[\pi\] so you don't really need a calculator. \[2 \pi \times (7)^2 = 2 \pi \times 49 = 98 \pi \] I'm sure you can do the other part. Then just add them together.
is it 644picm^2?
Try again.
350picm^2?
Yes that's correct.
thanks so much.
No problem.
