0pen up the parenthesis

(4x-12)/6=(2x-10)/4

[4x-12]/6 = [2x-10]/4
cross multiply and you get
16x -48 = 12x - 60
16x-12x = -60 + 48
4x = -12
x = -3

I can work the problem out to get -3, i'm just not sure how my book is getting -1
