OpenStudy (anonymous):

4(x-3)/6=2(x-5)/4

Parth (parthkohli):

Cross multiply. \( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow 4[4(x - 3)] = 5[2(x - 5]) }\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=1 if i am not wrong ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3 is it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how do you work it out to solve it? my book sais -1 is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0pen up the parenthesis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(4x-12)/6=(2x-10)/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

[4x-12]/6 = [2x-10]/4 cross multiply and you get 16x -48 = 12x - 60 16x-12x = -60 + 48 4x = -12 x = -3 @abhijitjain1995 is right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then solve it easily . follow ur basic rules and stuff. Hope u get it man

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Natshane - reduce numbers at the start to simplify calculations. :) thnx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@abhijitjain1995 you're welcome :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can work the problem out to get -3, i'm just not sure how my book is getting -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3 is the one man , must be a typo for sure . :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can't rely on books so much, sometimes they have plenty wrong answers (been through it)

OpenStudy (anonymous):
