Graph in comments What is the equation of line l?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

can you find the slope \(m\)? and \(y\)-intercept?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

the equation of a straight line is \[y=mx+b\]

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

\(b\) is the \(y\)-intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, i got y=1/3x+1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@UnkleRhaukus

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the closer to zero you get, the flatter the line

OpenStudy (amistre64):

notice that the line intercepts (crosses) the y axis at a negative number; so the equation aint gonna end in a + anything

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

the slope is actually steeper that \(m=1\) in this case an the \(y\)-intercept, \(b\) is where the line cuts the vertical \(y\)-axis, not the x axis
