STOP SCROLLING..& HELP! If quadrilateral FGHI is an isosceles trapezoid, what is the ordered pair of its missing vertex? a.(3,6) b.(4,6) c.(5,6) d.(2,6)

OpenStudy (sarahc):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, you know it's going to be vertically symmetric...so just follow your intuition on that. If you flipped it about a vertical axis that passes through the center of he horizontal line, where would point \(H\) go?

OpenStudy (sarahc):

would it be c ? :o

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're very close

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

notice how far along the x axis G is from H

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so you want to be that far along the x-axis from F

OpenStudy (sarahc):

Oh...umm:/

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

along the x axis, how far is G from H?

OpenStudy (sarahc):

Ohhh! it would be 4 instead of 5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

getting warmer

OpenStudy (sarahc):

hmph...3?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you got it, the missing point is (3,6)

OpenStudy (sarahc):

thank you jim :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
