2x+3y?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

3y + 2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure it's not 5xy?

Parth (parthkohli):

\(2x \times 3y\) is supposed to be 5xy, not 2x + 3y.

Parth (parthkohli):

Or actually that'd be 6xy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's + not X

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

\[2xy+3xy=5xy\] \[2x\times3y=6xy\] \[2x+3y=3y+2x\]

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

x and y are different letters so you cant add them ^_^ just remember that simple rule

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can add the terms with the SAME variable(s) to the SAME degree. In your case, the variables of the terms are not that same. For the first term, it's x; for the second term, it's y. So, you cannot add them together. Hope this helps

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

let's go elementary...you cant say 2 apples + 3 mangoes = 5 apple-mangoes all three are different fruits..got it?
