PLEASE HELP TIMED HOMEWORK I DON'T UNDERSTAND which quantity represents the prefix used in naming straight chain alkanes with the exception of methane, propane, and butane is it a. the number of carbon atoms in the alkane, b. the number of hydrogen atoms in the alkane, c. the number of double covalent bonds in the alkane, or d. the number of ions produced when the alkane dissociates? it's for a pretest... thanks!

pentane has Greek penta = 5, as in pentagon hexane has Greek hexa = 6, as in haxagon etc.
