Factor 2x^3+x^2-14x-7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ 2x^3+x^2-14x-7\]

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

(2x+1)([x^{2}+7])

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't it minus 7?

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

Factor out \[x ^{2}\] from the first part so you get \[x ^{2}(2x+1)\] and then factor a 7 from that second part \[-7(2x+1)\] Since there are 2 (2x+1), they basically become one and whatever is left over is your other term \[(x ^{2}+7)\]

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

yeah, -7 sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its Okay. I was off to.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But thank you for replying and helping me :D

OpenStudy (jackellyn):
