Evaluate the following limit: lim x-> 2^(-) f(x) = x/x-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can either say \(-\infty\) or "no limit" depending on who is teaching the class

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I got aswell, but apparently the answer is positive infinity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as x goes to two from below, the numerator goes to 2 and the denominator goes to zero through negative numbers so it is \(-\infty\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, the answer is not positive infinity it would be for \(\lim_{x\to 2^+}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can look at the graph and see that as x approaches two from the left you go to minus infinity http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=x%2F%28x-2%29

Okay, I guess I'll just go and recheck with my teacher, because i got points cut off in my test because of the neg sign. Thank you!
