suppose you & your friends are going to the movies. The amount of money you spend for tickets varies directly with the number of people buying tickets. If you spend $48 for six tickets ,What is the constant of variation?

Parth (parthkohli):

\( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow y = kx}\) Take \(y\) as the ticket. Take \(x\) as the total amount.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

hmm wait...i wrote it backwards

Parth (parthkohli):

Wait.. isn't it supposed to be 48 = 6k?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

y should be the amount of money x is the number of tickets y = kx substitute... 48 = 6k now solve for k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks for the help you guys

Parth (parthkohli):

yw :)

OpenStudy (sriram):

48 for 6 tickets hence 1 ticket would be 48/6=8$
