i quote "the more i try the less i learn" . that suggest that you are not channelizing your effort in the correct way. fortunately, anyone with a desire to understand things can learn physics.if you are good at maths then you will love physics. unfortunately, there is no shortcut to it and you have to give it its time.so for long term you may want to start in detail 'after' your exam from basics or just start now and cover a 'few' topics only in a week than try to do everything and end up with nothing or something vague.

get a more interesting textbook. the more i read and understand written examples, the more i learn. i don't really learn from lectures. it's difficult. but i love my chemistry textbook and from the ratings, it seems like my new physics textbook (the MIT one) that is coming in will be pretty good.
I suggest you study something else. I had problem with one of my physics classes, where I felt I knew the material it just wasn't showing up on the exam. I stopped studying physics and started studying the teacher, and his exams. I went to the library that had copies of all of his old exams and study those. Took the final and and it went well I didn't feel like a had a better grasp of physics for that test, but I had a better grasp of the test. Another possibility is to study yourself, do you feel you are getting the material, if not why not. In what format of classes have you learned well and what format you have not? Some people learn best by reading, other by listening, or doing or explaining it to others. Figure out what tends to make things "click" in your mind and then look for a way to get that happening for this subject.
