R u k with cross multiplication?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes
OpenStudy (ajprincess):
First u cross multiply and then solve for y. can u do it?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I can but when i factor I get confused
OpenStudy (anonymous):
(y-1)*(a+b)=(y+1)*(a-b)
good so far?

yes
OpenStudy (ajprincess):
If u hav ab+bc and want to factorise it see vat is common to both ab and bc. u will see that u hav b in both ab and bc. so take it out and write the remaining inside the bracket. that is
ab+bc=b(a+c)
is it clear?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
can you solve for y now? give it a try
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@ Aj kind of
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Jolly..When I factor what do I do after that?
