at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_O_notation in example & formal definition what does |M| stand for? is it as mod which changes the notation? please don't ignore my question by thinking it's related to CS, it's purely mathematical. My second question is that what is polynomial and binomial?

@TuringTest @KingGeorge @satellite73 plzzzz help

mathslover (mathslover):

polynomial is an expression that contains more than 4 terms. .. x^2 + 9 + y^9 +8x+9y^3

mathslover (mathslover):

binomial only contains 2 terms

mathslover (mathslover):

example of binomial : x+2

mathslover (mathslover):

|M| = mod of M it changes the sign of M ... if M is -ve than it will be +ve and if it is +ve then it will remain same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but on wikipedia it says that "For example, x2 − x/4 + 7 is a polynomial"

mathslover (mathslover):

yes it is ..... sorry i said it contains more than 4 terms ... it should be more than 2 terms.. x^2-x/4 + 7 is also a polynomial
