Choose the Standard Form of the equation y = −1/2x − 5. x + 2y = −10 1/2X+Y= -5 2x + y = −5 −2x + y = −10

OpenStudy (turingtest):

in standard form you want to solve everything for the constant, and get rid of any fractions add (1/2)x to both sides to get the variables on the left. what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x + y = −5

OpenStudy (turingtest):

how did you get rid of the fraction?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

\[y=-\frac12x-5\]add \(\large\frac12x\) to both sides tell me what you get from that and we'll take it from there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1/2X-6 IDK

OpenStudy (turingtest):

hm... you seem to be lacking some very fundamental parts of algebra could you solve 2x+12=16 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NOO

OpenStudy (turingtest):

then I'm afraid you need to step back a bit, and find where you lost track of algebra so that we can start to help you otherwise it would be like you are just asking for answers
