how can fossils sow evidence in the theory of evolution?
fossils from the same of things but at different times can show change.
Thanks! :)
Just a small note: you are very very unlikely to actually find fossils that show all the changes that occurred in a species. Since most things don't fossilise, the fossil record is incredibly patchy: you need something really unusual to happen when the plant/animal dies for it to actually leave a trace rather than decomposing normally. You might find the odd ancestor of the species you're looking at, and maybe the occasional organisms from a related species. It can be hard to tell, actually, what you're looking at. And it doesn't help that "simpler" organisms are NOT necessarily in older layers of rock. You could find them in the same layer as an organism that looks more "evolved", or even in a more recent layer -- do you know why?
