Hello . i want to tell that many students put their questions of test... and i get message that they have got 90% marks in test thanks a lot.... i think in this way open study can be harmful for the students
Yeah people on here are not supposed to cheat. If you see that, report them. :)
report is not only the solution to this i think @rebeccaskell94 i think if they really need help and we report them then it can be harmful for their studies but i think at least one moderator should be online and check whether a same student is asking same type of questions for a long time ..... http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/4fdcba3be4b0f2662fd2889a i dont want to mention more students.... Mods should notice about that its just an suggestion
many students also ask questions just for fun ....
If they are cheating they need to be studying. Us reporting them for that will not hinder them in their studies but to the contrary, help them out. A student can ask a question as many times as they need to though, they can bump it and such. There is nothing in CoC about that, so long as they are not cheating.
hmn ... so shall i take this question as no solution at last and close this or should i wait for any mod.
Wait for a mod, definitely. I'm just giving my input.
ok... shall i tag him or just wait ?
i just wanted to say, i understand what you mean @mathslover and @rebeccaskell94 but I myself have posted questions from a test like that, BUT i always try and answer it myself. i just post it for feedback to see if i may of done something wrong or if i am correct.
Don't tag mods in feedback. They will look through when they get the chance. :)
ok @LivForMusic no problem u atleast tried tht that is enough but u should post the doubts after the test is finished
@LivForMusic well I understand your desire to simply get help but unless your test is an openbook test it is still considered cheating. With my schoolwork I get pen and paper maybe calculator haha
no mine our openbook. im aloud to use any notes and go back to the lesson
*are
Oh, then that's no big deal.
I like open book tests
lol me too xD
@mathslover - I understand your point, and yes, this is against the CoC. In terms of searching for these kinds of questions and individually reaching out to these students, the only way for that to work is via 'Report Abuse.' There are hundreds of questions every hour on OpenStudy, so it is impossible for moderators to track this - we rely on our users to inform us of situations like this. And I understand and appreciate your concern for the student, and I can assure you that we share that feeling. When an issue like this is reported to us (for example, you could have reported the message you received where the person told you that the questions were for their test) we typically *do* reach out to the student and talk to them about it. We *never* simply discipline a student without some form of communication (via warning explanation or DM).
@mathslover we (as in all the mods on this site) do our best to try and detect situations like this. the advice we give to the askers is not to just ask questions without even trying. the advice we give to repliers is not to just give out answers but instead to try and guide the asker to the answer.
so we can help people taking a test as long as we just explain and no answer?
@asnaseer and @cshalvey thanks a lot for your replies and i now think that OS is now safe for all of us ...... thanks to both of you .. right @asnaseer we will take care about that you said to not only give the answer but guide the asker towards the way of answer..
@lgbasallote - The issue is not helping people on tests, right? Because let's be honest, that's impossible to know. Every question should be treated the same, meaning explanation over answer. In the situation that @mathslover has mentioned, we *do* ask that people 'Report Abuse' on these situations - so we obviously do *not* support people getting the answers to tests. Thanks ;)
http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/4fdd3bcce4b0f2662fd2cf3b @cshalvey should this be the reply from us for these type of questions
yes @cshalvey i was just making sure :) coz i've been doing that and i wouldnt wanna be in trouble ^_^ <tips hat>
lol xD like by tagging mods? ;P haha
@mathslover - that response was perfect, thank you! The main key is to engage the asker in their question - to be honest, once the asker is engaged (especially when they tell you what they've already tried) I'm far more open to helping that user. Well done! @lgbasallote - Hehe, absolutely no worries, definitely not in trouble :). To be honest, I'm a big fan of things being brought up here for everyone to see and weigh in on - there really aren't any wrong answers in my opinion. It's about discussing issues that all askers and answerers (sorry, I mean responders ;) ) face, and how we, as a community, decide to respond to them. Cheers again ;)
@cshalvey So that every one can know about this can u or shall i make this as a shared link in maths , physics and chemistry group so that the students who are doing that all can be noticed
@cshalvey u there ?
Hey @mathslover - let me think about that. I don't think we want or need to do that at this point - but feel free to use the link in answers where people are behaving in the way described. Thank you!
Ok @cshalvey thanks for your response... I think i should close this question now .....
@mathslover it's great to see people like you on the site who actually care about the OS community and how to make it better. We need more like you! :)
@asnaseer thanks ... that is my duty ... if i am getting help from OS experts than it is my duty to help OS to be better in each field also..
