Where are new DNA molecules formed

New DNA molecules are formed during replication in the nucleus in the Eukaryotes. For the prokaryotes, bacteria, replication occurs in the cytoplasm itself.

Replication (the technical name for making new DNA molecules) occurs in the nucleus. After a short fragment of DNA or RNA, called a primer, is created and paired with the template DNA strand, the enzymes called DNA polymerases are what goes along an "zips" all the nucleotides. More specific than that, it occurs at the magnesium ion binding sites on the following DNA polymerase molecule seen in the image below:
