Using foil method (4x^6-4)(x^8-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know what 'foil' stands for, right? 'First, Outside, Inside, Last'. So to expand this you would do: \[4x^6.x^8+4x^6.-3+-4.x^8+-4.-3\] Then tidy up (complete multiplications, add or subtract any like terms, etc etc) and then see what you get.

The answer should be 4x^14-12x^6-4x^8+12 Which can be factored down to 4(x^14-3x^6-x^8+3)

Sorry I couldn't use the formula thingy because it doesn't recognise powers with 2 digits or more!

thank you
