what is the difference between a recorder and a flute? especially in how they're played?
Different pitches, and a flute you hold across your face and dont actually but your mouth on it when you play it. A recorder you hold straight to your mouth to play it
well i meant by the fingers...are the notes different in terms of the finger placements?
Well most notes on the recorder you have to have your thumb on a hole ik that idk about the flute though
There are many instruments out there that produce similar sounds, and have the same mechanism.
There are not a lot of differences between a flute and a recorder, but they produce a little bit different sounds.
but what about how it's played? i mean they're both wind instruments so they're bound to have a common mechanism
Also, they have a different technique(I know you put the fingers on holes in both of them, no pun intended).
The real people who play the flute play it from its side.
a soprano recorder sounds a bit like a flute though
o.O how can you play it form the not side
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59ZX5qdIEB0 He's playing this from the side(flute) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCZr-xAbLGM He's playing this from the front(recorder)
well yeah i understand the orientations of both instruments...i am curious to the finger placements...
Umm I have played an Indian flute, but never a recorder. Another thing I know is that they're made up of different material.
i think recorder is made up of plastic lol but the answer regarding the finger placement still eludes me -_-
