Multiply

OpenStudy (kainui):

Do you remember FOIL? You multiply the First, Outer, Inner, and Last ones together and add them up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (kainui):

Tell me whatcha get and I'll help you out if you need it. It kinda gets confusing with those square roots, I know!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Kainui 6 sqrt5 - 9 sqrt5 + 2 sqrt5 - 2 thats what i got after i did F.O.I.L <---- i think thats wrong

OpenStudy (kainui):

Alright, so first off we can take it one at a time. First we multiply \[(3\sqrt{5})*(2\sqrt{5})\] which will give us \[(3*2*\sqrt{5}*\sqrt{5})\] Now we can see that 3*2 is 6, and we see that \[\sqrt{5}*\sqrt{5}=\sqrt{5}^2=5\] right? So they just cancel each other out! So for our first term the answer is: \[6*5=30\]

OpenStudy (kainui):

With me so far? Or should I keep going?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

keep going

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please

OpenStudy (kainui):

Try to do the last two terms and tell me what you do.
