How do you solve -3|6 - 3| = -15 ? What are the steps with the ||'s being there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

absolute value of 6-3 is 3 -3(3) = -9 = -15 isn't ture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i forgot how to solve the absolute value.. :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*you have to know that the absolute value symbol stands for how many places that number is away from 0 .... in other words any value in the absolute value will always be positive 1) now you do whatever is in the absolute value sign and take the absolute value of it which is 3 2) then multiply 3 with negative 3 to get -9 3) you now see that equation doesn't make sense,so -3\[\left| 6-3 \right|\] doesn't equal -15 hope that helps :D
