given the inequality y≤-4x+6 and y≤6x+6 graphed on the same coordinate grid, which of the following coordinate pairs is a solution? A.(-2,-2) B.(4,0) C.(2,-6) D.none of the above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve the system

OpenStudy (nenadmatematika):

well, start with plugging those values...for example if you plug in x=-2 and y=-2 see if you get the correct inequality...then continue with B,C the same way...could you do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it b?

OpenStudy (nenadmatematika):

try with x=4 and y=0, put in the first inequality and what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4(4)+6=-10

OpenStudy (nenadmatematika):

how did you get that? I think you get 0<=-10...is that true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no thats not true then

OpenStudy (nenadmatematika):

then it's not B...try with A and then with C...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its a.i got -2≤14 and with c i got -6≤-2

OpenStudy (nenadmatematika):

OK...if you do for C you get -6<=-2 that is true, then plug in those values for the second inequality you're given and you'll get -6<=18...that's also true...so C is your solution

OpenStudy (nenadmatematika):

to make sure try with the other possibilities A and B...that's how you can practise

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks so much
