Mathematics 22 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

The probability of a given event is 1/x . If the experiment is repeated n times, what is the probability that the event does not occur in any of the trials?

Parth (parthkohli):

The probability that an event WON'T occur is 1 - the probability that the event will occur.

Parth (parthkohli):

\( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow \Large {(1 - {1 \over x})} }\) This is the probability that the event won't occur once.

Parth (parthkohli):

Now we'd multiply this thing n times, so we'll raise it to the power n.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what would it be????

Parth (parthkohli):

\( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow \Large {(1 - {1 \over x})^n}}\) Did you get that?
