6x^2-12x=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi juniors mom, are you looking for the roots of x?

OpenStudy (agent47):

pull out a 6x, and try to solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

quadratic equations.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X = -b\[x = -b \pm \sqrt{b ^{2}-4(a)(c)}\div2(a)\]

OpenStudy (agent47):

why bother with quadratics?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ignore that first x = -b >_<

OpenStudy (agent47):

6x^2-12x=0 6x(x-2)=0 x1=0 x2=2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First divide both sides by 6: 6x^2-12x=0 =====> x^2-2x=0 Then, factor our the x===> x(x-2)=0 Then you use the property that when you multiply two numbers and get zero either one of the numbers is zero or both of them are zero. So you have x is one of the numbers so x=0 OR the other number x-2=0 ===> x=2 (adding 2 to both sides) solution: x=0 or 2

OpenStudy (aliahmed):

6x^2-12x=0 6x^2=12x x=12/6=2
