If the gametes produced by a given organism contain 6 chromosomes, how many chromosomes are found in that organism’s body cells?

OpenStudy (blues):

All gametes are haploid, meaning they have n chromosomes. All the body or 'somatic' cells are diploid, meaning they have 2 * n the number of chromosomes - essentially, two copies of each chromosome. So if an organism's haploid number is six, it's diploid number is...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think they are about 12 because of the diploid no. of chromosomes that the somatic cells have compairing it by the haploid number of the chromosomes that the gametes have
