Electronics exam tomorrow, all ready except one thing. In a standard transformer, the VA rating is the product of what two variables? My textbook says Ip * Vs, one website said Vs * Is, another website said it's indeterminable without going and finding the volume of the coils etc, and one of my classmates says it's Ip * Vp. It's been incredibly hard to find a reliable source. Which is it?

OpenStudy (radar):

VA rating is Volt-Amp in otherword Power without regard to phase difference between voltage and current (without regard to "power factor")

Hi dylanm :) How are you dear? First of all radar is right. Pay attention what radar says. Second, it is the product of two variables i.e. potential difference and current. It depends what are you trying to measure i.e. for primary or secondary.
