Use the elimination method to solve this system...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Multiply both sides of the second equation by 2 to make the terms in g equal but of opposite signs. Then add the resulting equation to the first equation to eliminate the terms in g. Can you do that?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Remove the braket by multiplying out 2(0.15g - 0.9f) = -5.55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I Got f = 5, g = -7

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The first equation is 0.18f - 0.3g = 3 What do you get when you multiply both sides of the second equation by 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get -12.6 but I think im doing something wrong

OpenStudy (kropot72):

How did you get the answer f = 5 and g = -7 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I used a calculator but I dont know if I did something wrong

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Can you describe the steps you took to solve the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well I just entered the 1st equation on top of the 2nd and just calculated it and came up with 5, -7

OpenStudy (kropot72):

So are you saying that your calculator can solve simultaneous first order equations with two variables?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Well the answer f = 5, g = -7 is correct which is what would be expected from the use of such smart technology :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well cool then, thanks for checking

OpenStudy (kropot72):

You're welcome :)
