The figure below shows a kite labeled PQRS. Write a 2-column, paragraph, or flow-chart proof to show that angle PQR is congruent to angle PSR.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. PS is seemingly similar for now to PQ because of the definition of corresponding sides. 2. SR is similar seemingly for now to QR because of the definition of corresponding sides. 3. PR=PR because of the reflexive property of equality. 4. Since triangles PQR and PSR share the same hypotenuse, their legs equal c squared because of the Pythagorean Theorem. 5. Their corresponding legs equal the same because of the square root property of equality is applied. 6. Since both triangles have hypotenuses, they must have right angles. 7. By the SAS postulate, PS=PQ, SR=QR, and angle PQR is congruent to angle PSR.

This is my proof; tips?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ONce again, no offense, but you cannot use that proof...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

eh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sides cannot be seemingly similar, they have to be similar by a theorem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh man

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you give me some pointers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will give you the justifications, and I will leave it to you to fiure out the statements that go along with them. Justifications: AAS Congruence THeorem Property of a Kite (One pair oof opposite angles are congruent.) CPCTC Property of a Kite (One diagonal bisects the angles of the kite.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

angle P equal angle Q

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Angle P equal angle R

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that right so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and PR=PR

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope. Neither of the first two work. The third one does though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

angle R= angle R while angle P=angle P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

angle Q equal angle S

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

angle P equal angle R

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

meh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

angle P=angle P?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or angle R=angle R?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"hint hint nudge nudge?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me when you come back...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Btw, you should be able to do these by now with doing proofs so much.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ty man

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm going to retake the test now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright.
