DO,K = (6,12)---> (3,6) is it a dilation or expansion?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You're cutting each coordinate in half, so that means that you're performing a dilation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i ment.. is it a n EXPANSION.. OR A CONTRACTION

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

You just slashed every coordinate value by HALF!!! So CONTRACTION!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it's a contraction because you can imagine a segment connecting the origin and K and going from K = (6,12) to K' = (3,6) will shrink or contract the segment

YEAAAAAAAAAAAH! thanks apoor xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and jim!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
