The sum of two consecutive integers is between 5 and 9. What are the two integers? Tell the two numbers only. 7 and 8 6 and 8 2 and 5 3 and 4 IT LOOKS LIKE ITS THE LAST 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the sum of 3 and 4 is 3 + 4 = 7. That is below 5 and 9 so you're right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is between 5 and 9*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

however, 2 and 5 are not consecutive, therefore it is not correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WHAT DOES CONSECUTIVE MEAN?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

consecutive means they follow each other. for example 1 and 2. 2 and 3. 4 and 5, etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It means one after the another....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you want it algebraically, a consecutive number is n+ 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, if 5 is a number then consecutive to it can be 6 or it can be 4 also...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

singe 2 and 5 don't follow each other when counting, they are not consecutive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@abb50 I think (n-1) can also be consecutive...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well according to the dictionary "consecutive" means "following one another in uninterrupted succession or order; successive" so it's always going forward not back. but i guess it depends on what is n.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I think...
