can a transformer use D.C as like A.C........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u plzzzz name those circuits which transform a DC current

If you're really interested in this, there's a good 20 minutes of video that explains it in careful detail. To watch them: 1. Go to mitx.mit.edu 2. Sign up as a guest for the course that just finished 6.002x -- Circuits and Electronics 3. Go to Week 9 tutorials 4. Watch the sequence on "Design of a DC-DC Converter" Otherwise, if you're looking for something quick and dirty, do a google search on DC converter or step up converter.

OpenStudy (jamesj):

A vanilla transformer (that uses curled loops in an inductor to generate a magnetic field which is converted back to current with another inductor) only works with AC current. In steady state, an inductor with a steady state current generates no magnetic field at all and therefore the transformer doesn't work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no you can use a dc to ac converter then use a transformer then again use ac to dc converter needs alot of energy :P

OpenStudy (jamesj):

that's not how it's done.

well you know it better bro i just answered it upto my calliber. but what say?? it can't be done as i said?? or its not how it is done???
