an assignment for school asked me to do this: Step 1: Pick a friend or family member to be the character of your word problem. This friend or family member may do one of the following: Drive a boat Drive a jet ski Step 2: Select a current speed of the water in mph. Step 3: Select the number of hours (be reasonable please) that your friend or family member drove the boat or jets ski against the current speed you chose in step 2. Step 4: Select the number of hours that your friend or family member made the same trip with the current (this should be a smaller number, as your friend or
family member will be traveling with the current). Step 5: Write out the word problem you created and calculate how fast your friend or family member was traveling in still water. Round your answer to the nearest mph. i ended up with these, the numbers next to the problem match their respective question: 1.boat 2. 20 mph 3. 2 4. 1 for the 5th one i made this for the word problem part: my mom was on a boat for 2 hours riding against the current, she turned around, driving with the current now. it took my mom 2 hours to reach her original destination and it took her 1 hour to come back.
now, how would i put this in equation form? i've never really made a word problem like this to an equation so please, just provide me to what this looks like in equation form and i'll take it from there.
if i typed it incorrecly or should use different variables or something please tell me.
